Thirty Years’ War – The Bloodiest European Religious War

The Thirty Years’ War was a series of wars that took place in Europe. It is the most lasting war to ever take place in Europe and is the deadliest religious war. This famous war had a huge number of casualties, considering the fact that weapons of mass destruction haven’t been advanced yet. A huge percentage of the population was annihilated in this war.

The Thirty Years’ War has four stages. It starts out as a religious war, but later it becomes of a more political interest. Here are the stages:

  • Beginnings (1618–1625)
  • Danish intervention (1625–1630)
  • Swedish intervention (1630–1635)
  • French intervention and continued Swedish participation (1635–1648)
