The Battle of Adrianople is a battle between the Goths led by Fritigern and the Romans under the Roman emperor Valens.

The battle took place in the Roman province of Thrace, 13 km north of Adrianople, and ended with the complete defeat of the Romans.

The Battle of Adrianople is considered as one of the turning points of European history, which changed the balance of power in favor of the German peoples. It is often viewed as a rehearsal of the final collapse of an empire.
